The Mantua Urban Peace Garden (MUPG) is a community space for residents to grow and share healthy, organic fruits and vegetables while building relationships with their neighbors. Unlike a traditional community garden with individual plots, MUPG gardens collectively, with members working together to plant, maintain, harvest, and share what we grow. The MUPG is led by a phenomenal, all-volunteer Board of Directors.

MUPG, located at 37th and Brown Streets, was established in May 2013 with support from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Currently, Mt. Vernon Manor CDC serves as MUPG’s fiscal sponsor and will hold a long-term lease for the land so that gardeners have a guaranteed space to grow produce and community.

In addition to opportunities to garden throughout the season, MUPG hosts workshops, community gatherings, and special events throughout the year that bring neighbors together to learn, connect, and enjoy the space.

The garden features 52 growing plots and recreational spaces, all cared for collectively by our garden community.
